GLASSER

Alon Shapiro

Glasser, the solo project of L.A. based Cameron Mesirow, shows what one woman can do with GarageBand. Blending layered ethereal sounds with her angelic voice, she sucks you into her world like a Siren. Bold I know, but her voice falls somewhere between Animal Collective, Bjork and Beach House – yeah, that good. On May 26th True Panther records issued her first release, a three song EP with three remixes. Check it out, and when your friends find out about her 6 months from now you can say I told you so. BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW’S: EATING US

Alon Shapiro

Black Moth Super Rainbow’s fourth full-length album, Eating Us, shows the band striking again with a strong dose of melody and rhythm. The set’s instrumentation — a mishmash of swooning synthesizers — and vocals — heavy on the vocoder — recall French outfit Air. There are a bunch of potential singles with cool and interesting lyrics highlighting almost every track. There’s also a deep groove. Loud aggressive drums make for an interesting texture against the spacey, electronic harmonies and melodies. My favorite thing about Eating Us is the transitions, which sprawl seamlessly from loud, fast-paced electro-noise to downtempo and trip-hop.
