FALL INTO FALL FASHION

Bee-Shyuan Chang

Clean, structured wool felt, old-school tailoring techniques, luxurious blouses with high-necks for day-to-night Victorian drama and lady-like masculinity are just some of our thoughts for Fall. Paired with the statement red lips of the season and architectural accessories, fall into (love) with Fall Fashion with FABRIC magazine. Continue…

TIMBERLAND AND COLETTE

Chris Peake

The workman trend lives on for Fall. Set to release on the catchy date of 9/9/09, Timberland and Colette’s update of the classic yellow workman boot is coming alive with blue detailing and mismatching laces. With the lumberjack plaids still hip for fall, we’re seeing this trend show some longevity. We suppose it may have something to do with balancing those ultra-tight jeans we’ve still been seeing on the L train to Williamsburg. What’s fashion without a bit of the contrast? Besides the rough workman by day, and dashing debonair by night is the hottest thing around.. well I may be just speaking for myself. Continue…

S2VS SPRING SUMMER 2010 PREVIEW

Bee-Shyuan Chang

Not to be a spoil-sport, but today is the last Friday of August.  And here are FABRIC, while we’re enjoying our rainy end of the week in NYC, we’re moving forward too. Here is the first of many Spring – Summer 2010 collections that reminds us of many more summers to come. S2VS presented a tight, easily wearable collection last night at The Yard in Soho Grand. Parsons alum, Sean William Salim, stuck with a neutral palette but added some chambray blues and easy shapes for sticky summer days. Fashionable downtowners who were still in town, stopped by. Red lipstick aplenty, sailor stripes and rolled and cuffed lightweight pants was the uniform de soir. Happy summer and weekend. Continue…

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE

GRACE CODDINGTON

Chris Peake

Hey fashion-philes, “The September Issue” premieres today and to celebrate we’re drinking vodka, downing champagne and smoking cigs like any proper model would. Kidding of course. We’re going with something more wholesome with this round of images celebrating Vogue’s creative director, Grace Coddington. We’ve seen her from up close and afar at Paris Fashion Week, but we’re still in awe. See we didn’t mention Anna Wintour even once. Continue…

ALL THAT GLITTERS

Bee-Shyuan Chang

Maybe Mimi aka Mariah Carey wasn’t completely deluded when she starred in Glitter. But here at FABRIC we’d rather take Dynasty excess than pop star princess. Throw in some Lady Gaga/drag queen influence and we’re all set to hit the dance floor. Oh who are we kidding, we’d wear sequins in the daytime. (Yep, that’s how we roll.) Check out these sparkly numbers that are making fashion fun again. Continue…

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY AND ARTIST WILL LEMON

Bee-Shyuan Chang

In the ideal marriage of popular fashion meets Brooklyn artist, denim line Citizens of Humanity and Will Lemon are teaming up on a line of t-shirts.  We’ve been a champion of Lemon all along from his recent show at the Fuse Gallery to hanging out at his Brooklyn pad. Now we’ll be keeping an eye out for the graphic tees, tunics and tank tops. Lemon–who is no fashion newbie, having collaborated with Marc Jacobs and MAC– was inspired by outdoor scenery. The collaboration also takes care to preserve Lemon’s painterly look. Continue…

CATHERINE MALANDRINO VINTAGE

Chris Peake

Catherine Malandrino is known for her feminine frocks, but now she’s adding in a bit of the past with her Vintage collection. Launching online today, the Woodstock-friendly line focuses on construction and materials using guipure lace edging (remember that gorgeous Prada collection?) and hand-crocheted details. The limited edition runs insures that you won’t be running around town with the same ol’ thing as everyone else. Continue…

Norweigan photographer Sølve Sundsbø’s collaboration with NYC-Paris design team Surface to Air is launching next month.
