FREE MUSIC – SONG OF THE DAY FROM NOAH AND THE WHALE

Ronen Shapiro

Noah and the Whale emerged on the scene with their first album, Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down last year and quickly grew a loyal following. It was no surprise that the Londoners’ music followed a similar formula for their second release The First Days of Spring, but took it a step further and added a movie to their love laced album narrative.  Strong drums, acoustic guitars and a slew of unlikely instruments come together for delicious nu-folk harmonies. Combined with the movie (directed by lead singer Charlie Fink), their second release is truly a complete work. Download the great single “Blue Sky” from Noah and the Whale’s new album and watch the trailer below! Continue…

MUSIC NATION

THE JESUS LIZARD

Paul Saitowitz

David Yow just missed being with his friend. The front-man for ’90s college radio darlings The Jesus Lizard makes it clear he had no burning desire to play the old tracks he and the rest of the band penned back in the days before the Internet. There was no internal call to get back on stage in front of the aging masses looking to reclaim a piece of their ever-wilting youth. Hell, he didn’t even really need the money. Continue…

The Bowerbirds’ new album, Upper Air is filled with additively sweet melodies written on the road. Things change for a band after their debut album, you have your whole life to write the first one, and only a year or so to write the second. We were pleasantly surprised to hear the Bowerbirds dig deep with the lyrics for Upper Air. Phil Moore and Beth Tacular expose more of themselves on this album to deliver music that reads like a series of journal entries. Today’s Song of the Day, Northern Lights is perfect sweet melody, helping you get through your Monday like only music can. We hope you enjoy! Continue…

Word is, after spending a year writing and practicing the music for the album, Grand Archives scrapped the all their new songs and started afresh in the studio. Singing as they wrote, composing as they played, Grand Archives delivered a beautiful, slightly darker album charged with the life energy of a band that loves what they do.
