It being August, some of my favorite shows are finally trickling back onto the airwaves. Mad Men is back in fine scotch and cigarettes form and True Blood is just as ridiculously sex-charged and bloody as ever. But my absolute go-to for guaranteed entertainment is Modern Family with its real-life shenanigans and one very hilarious Latina. Played by Sofia Vergara, Gloria could easily be the cliché sort with her bombshell figure and silver fox husband, but Vergara’s got comedic timing in spades. Plus, unlike so many actresses, Sofia is hilarious off-screen too. She held her own on Jay Leno, Ellen and Chelsea Lately. But while I was catching up on her laugh-inducing interviews, I also came across this much earlier Sofia (with unsightly blonde hair) promoting a spa/gym for cash. Sandra Bullock is out of hiding. Three months after her hubby Jesse James was caught with multiple mistresses, Sandy was hitting the town in LA, showing up at not one but two awards ceremonies over the weekend. First, the new mom to baby Louis stopped by the Spike TV Guy’s Choice Awards where she accepted an honor from the armed forces. And now sources say that Mimi and hubby Nick Cannon – who celebrated their 2nd anniversary in May – are about to become parents! “They’re both very excited and very happy,” dished an insider. “Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can.” This will be the first child for both Mariah and Nick, who got married in 2008 after knowing each other for only 6 weeks. Headed to The Slammer
Charlie Sheen is going to jail. The Two and a Half Men star will serve a sentence for his domestic violence charge against wife Brooke Mueller, after the two had a messy fight on Christmas Day in Aspen after a long night of drinking. ”Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 [to] plead to a misdemeanor and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail,” says the source. “With good behavior, he could end up doing 15 or so days.” While Sheen, 44, had been charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor third-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief following the brawl with Brooke, 32, the source adds that Sheen will not be placed on probation once he completes his jail sentence. Meanwhile, the couple has been living apart, with Brooke caring for their young twin sons Bob and Max. Charlie and Brooke both went to rehab after the Christmas disaster, as both have a long history of substance abuse. Lindsay Lohan’s life as a hard partying starlet is finished. The 23-year old actress has been ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) bracelet 24/7 and submit to random drug testing – or she’ll be thrown in jail for violating the terms of her probation! La Lohan’s problems started when she flew off to Cannes, France last week to promote her role as Linda Loveless in a biopic about the porn star. While there, Lindsay partied every night and stayed out all night long. But she also missed a mandatory court hearing for her 2007 DUI arrest, where she chased her ex-assistant’s mother on the PCH and was later arrested for being drunk and having cocaine in her pocket. Lindsay claimed she lost her passport in France and couldn’t make it back for the hearing on Thursday. Then Lindsay’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley claimed that Lohan has “an upcoming number of photo shoots” and was due to begin filming in Texas for an upcoming movie role and asked that in lieu of the ankle bracelet, Lohan be subject to random alcohol testing as well since the device would interfere with filming. “It would allow her to make a living,” Holley explained. After a lot of heartbreak and pain, John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston finally have some good news – they’re having a baby! A year after their 16-year old son Jett died of a seizure in the Bahamas, Kelly and John – also parents to 10-year old Ella Bleu – announced that they are expecting again. “It’s impossible to keep a secret … especially one as wonderful as this,” they say in a statement on their website. “We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family. Love, John, Kelly and Ella” A source says that 47-year old Kelly underwent IVF treatments in order to conceive and that the family is thrilled. “Kelly is about three months pregnant,” an insider says.”Both she and John are absolutely over the moon — they knew in their hearts that the time was right for this to happen.”
He’s Back!
Charlie Sheen isn’t leaving Two and a Half Men after all. The actor had threatened to walk, after demanding about $2 million an episode. But he has settled on a deal and will be coming back to the hit show next season. Charlie’s contract expired last month and some insiders said he was ready to say goodbye, especially amidst troubles with his wife Brooke Mueller and facing possible jail time for a domestic dispute in Aspen with her over Christmas. But Charlie finally settled the rumors for good, saying, “To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights.” He concluded by thanking Leslie Moonves, the CBS chief executive, for his support. But all is not well for the TV star. He may be headed to the slammer soon for pushing Brooke during their boozy brawl, and has even been requesting special privileges to smoke while locked up. Now that they’ve all been dumped by the golf star, Tiger Woods’ mistresses have their claws out for each other. During a porn conference in Miami this weekend, one of the golfer’s girls on the side, porn star Joslyn James, took a stab at his girl #1, Rachel Uchitel, who was just outed as a mistress of married TV star David Boreanez. When asked about Rachel, James said, “I think she’s a bed jumper and she needs to get a hobby — and a real job, like the rest of us — instead of making a living out of exploiting married men and trying to ruin families like she did. Just my opinion.” Meanwhile, Joslyn was said to have bedded Tiger a handful of times too, and claimed they never used protection.
