Best Fall Lipsticks – From Bold To Subtle

If you haven’t heard, lipstick is back and in full force. For those of us that grew up with glosses as best friends, lipstick is one way to pull together a more polished Fall look. Plus, with accessories running the sticker shock gamut from pricey to more-than-our-rent-combined, spending 20 bucks on a quality lipstick that will last you for ages is a smart way to go. Check out FABRIC’s favorite formulas and colors here.

LADY IN RED

A classic choice, red lips are sure to get you noticed. We love the rich pigment in Make Up For Ever’s appropriately titled Moulin Rouge and the super moisturizing properties of Dior’s new Serum de Rouge.

NUDISTS

Ever since Brigitte Bardot splashed onto the scene with loads of black eyeliner and a nude lip, girls have been copying the bombshell look since. Under the radar beauty brand Koh Gen Do (a favorite of Hollywood makeup artists) offers their slightly sheer and creamy cult lipstick in the perfect beige. For those on a budget, Rimmel’s long lasting color in Frosted gets you on-trend for a nifty $5.

IT’S A WASH

Those hesitant to let go of their glossy faves may find sheer lipsticks are a nice beauty transition. The light washes of color are particularly lovely for day, when going with fully bold lips may be a tad too startling. Shiseido’s new Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer offers a subtle glossy finish, or if you’re up for trying a new texture comb (with a hint of peppermint!), try Tarte’s matte lip stain. We like the handy pencil form stain in universally flattering Hope.

WINE LOVERS

Decidedly grown-up, a deep wine-stained lip is getting a second life beyond all those vampire movies. Instead of going vamp, think a deeply sophisticated dewy take with a creamy application. Aside from sporting the coolest cover around, Guerlain’s Le Rouge G jewel lipstick is lightweight yet offers rich color courtesy of a dash of ruby powder (c’est riche!). For a deeper hue, we also love YSL’s Rouge Volupté in a daring pearlized purple.

LA VIE EN ROSE

A rose lip is a perfectly femme match for the ladylike fashions this fall. Pink is a nice compliment on just about everyone. For those with fairer skin, try an soft rose like the one Burberry offers. Those with deeper skin tones can get away with an opaque formula like Boots’ lip color in Mischief.
