Especially in this particularly tough Paris Fashion Week, you can’t blame the designer for having fun. Editors are having a tough time making the shows on time and there has been frustration at some of the front-doors of even established fashion houses. Yet in the hands of veteran, Jean-Charles de Castebajac, fashion is fun again.

All-girls band Le Corps Mince de Francoise opened up the show as models walked jauntily in pieces such as a jacket made of Kermit the Frogs or a pants suit cut from a Muppets print. Keeping a sense of humor, Castelbajac’s riffed on the pervading fur as hair motif with blond “hair” trapped in clear plastic coats that were both silly and contemporary. The best, though, were the t-shirt dresses with icons such as Andy Warhol screen-printed front and center with fur sprouting in high relief from the platinum artist’s famous tresses. In closing, models throwing dollar bills emblazoned with Obama’s mug as if it was a nightclub. Keeping it happy is a nice change of pace.
