Coming off a strong but carefree Spring/Summer ’09 collection, Karen Walker had some choices to make for Fall/Winter: head down the path of the already tried and true or venture into new territory. Titled “She’s Cracked”, Walker opted for the latter with sharp blazers, grown up suits and strapless party dresses layered with long sleeve blouses that gave an idea of the corporate life, albeit a stylish one. The effect was a bit covered up, but if you take away some of the layering, you realize that there were many practical pieces that can be worked on their own. Offering a day into night wardrobe, Walker has managed to eke out a dose of professional cool, where the only thing cracking were the smiles of the buyers in the front row.
