OHNE TITEL

It’s tough for young labels trying to establish an identity. The old guard demands that you have a handprint- that your collection is instantly recognizable- and yet your younger fashion followers demand newness. More often than not, New York’s young designers, bent on saleability and an older customer base who can pay, will go for the former (and with good reason).  Fresh off their Ecco Domani win, Parsons alums Flora Gill and Alexa Adams showcased exactly what the fashion industry has come to expect from them: beautiful draping.

The designers swathed girls in black, more black, charcoal and dark browns. Coupled with soft leather pants with zipper slits at the knees (that have been everywhere) and sky-high Cesare Paciotti stripper heels, the design duo’s idea of the modern woman was tough and killer sexy. It was after a few runway looks, however, that Ohne Titel had taken the handprint too literally. Women are fickle and want a diverse closet and a third, fourth, fifth pair of leather pants and drapey black top is difficult to justify.
