THOM BROWNE X COLETTE

What’s the best plan for a recession? Find strength in numbers. Thom Browne of abbreviated suit fame is setting up a pop-up shop with my favorite fashion store in the world, Colette. The Parisian retailer will be offering Browne’s entire Spring/Summer 2009 collection of tenniswear-inspired separates from January 17th to February 14th. If his Tribeca flagship with its private tailormade suits in the back and $5000 price tags are any indication, Browne is redefining the panache of bespoke.

Along with duties as the Black Fleece designer for Brook Brothers (thanks in part to Ms. Wintour), the designer has also been keeping himself busy designing the Moncler Gamme Bleue line, no doubt already part of the apres ski scene in Sundance. For January, Browne will be the guest designer for Italian showcase, Pitti Uomo 75, where he will be presenting a preview of his Fall/Winter 2009 collection as his first European showing. With fellow presentations such as Comme des Garçons’s international launch of their HOMME DEUX line, it seems a well-suited man is a sure thing.
