Breakup Season

It may be the holidays but that isn’t enough to keep these celebrity couples together! Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are kaput after two years of dating, and Kate Hudson and Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez have called it quits too. According to sources, Reese and Jake ended things about two weeks ago, although their reps denied it at the time. So what happened? “They needed time to figure it out and they were on different coasts,” a source
says. “When they were finally together, they talked it out and decided they’re not going to be together anymore.” One source insists it’s completely amicable. “There are no other people involved,” the source said. ”The relationship just ended. It just fizzled. But they also wanted to be careful and private about it because of Reese’s kids.” Meanwhile, things have gone sour for Kate and ARod too, just after the blond actress was seen as a constant fixture in the stands during Alex’s World Series win. ”They’re over,” says a source. “They’ve been broken up for a couple of weeks. They just wanted things to die down around them. [Kate and Alex] both seem to totally fine. They decided to move on.” And Alex looked especially fine while leaving the Armani Exchange Cool Shades of Summer party at Miami’s Delano Hotel with a Kate look-a-like this past weekend. ‘He was totally flirting with her, acting like a single guy.”
