Things are getting political. Fresh from landing a campaign with Fox fashion, Bar Refaeli is getting some political heat with folks from her homeland calling for a boycott of the Israeli model. Bar, who is from a ridiculously rich family in Israel, skipped out on the country’s compulsory military service when she married a family friend — married women don’t have to serve. Then the blonde infamously commented to Page Six, “Why is it good to die for one’s country? Isn’t it better to live in New York?” Classy. Now most recently, Bar Refaeli was reported crafting an offshore company to reduce the amount of taxes she pays to Israel.
The country’s Major General Avi Zamir had this to say about Refaeli to Israeli students, “At the end of the day, she is the one who has to look at herself in the mirror.
We are a society that has an army, and Bar Refaeli doesn’t have to participate in ads for Fox and, if she advertises Fox, then you shouldn’t buy their products,” the NY Post reports.
Meanwhile, her Sports Illustrated Israeli model mate Esti Ginzberg swapped sexy swimsuits for military fatigues.
Could Bar be barred from her homeland? Only time will tell, but in the meantime she’s more preoccupied on other things… like keeping a tether on Leonardo DiCaprio.
