The space at the Bowery Ballroom was nearly full towards the end of the fantastic opening set by the Tune-Yards. Normally the rush of smokers heading outside loosens the crowd and allows late comers (like myself) to creep closer to the front – this was not the case in anticipation of the Dirty Projectors first show of three in NYC.

The Brooklyn based 6 member band was ready as ever. As amped up as the fans were to see them, the Dirty Projectors seemed just as excited to be there. They opened with “No Intention” off the Bitte Orca album and followed it with “Remade Horizon” that caused the crowd to erupt in cheer. The Dirty Projecters beautiful cocktail of tantalizing experimental and a’cappella music was spot-on and musical director Dave Longstreth was in top form. The 15 song set (including 2 encores) lasted a little more than an hour and the crowd never grew tired cheering the band on with every ounce of energy they had.

There are two shows left in NYC – tonight and tomorrow at the Williamsburg Music hall. Get there.
