Malgosia Bela (Next) is looking Fall fierce in the new Chanel cosmetics campaign. In her second campaign for Chanel Beauty, the Polish native rocks the nouveau vamp thing with black nails, plummy-black lips and smoky eyes. Moderation is overrated.

I love the avant-garde stuff, but it can be a bit difficult to wear. I top out at 5’5″ and at best 5’8″ with my Prada Kabuki heels, so if I wear something that resembles an artful sack, well I might look appropriately like a potato that might belong in it. For the everyday, I [...]

Nothing says luxury like an exotic skin and better to make your statement this Fall saving your pretty pennies than blowing it on something that won’t last through two seasons. A platform heel wrapped in exotic skin is a faithful wing girl when you’re out on the prowl, and those Upper East ladies and Hitchcock [...]

How else does Lady Gaga consistently make stage-stopping entrances– why with her go-to designers such as Bernard Chandran. The innovative Malaysian designer who honed his skills in Paris is known for his unexpected shapes and play with structure and volume that has swooned the Malaysian royal family as well as the musically talented and fashionably [...]

Linda Evangelista is still working it. The supermodel looks perfectly French chic in Galliano’s Fall/Winter ’09 campaign and we’re digging the splashy colors and hand-written graphics because they’re not your usual stare-the-camera-down-and-look-angsty pose. Although rumors are still swirling Agyness Deyn is leaving the modeling industry, she puts her best (model) face forward for Anna Sui [...]

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Oak NYC’s photos of Complex Geometries pieces, it’s a lovely exercise of graphic draping and movement photography. The Montreal-based contemporary line has a spare androgyny to its designs that I suppose might be a reflection of the bare trees in a Canadian winter. Or perhaps I [...]

When I think of togas, I think of Angelina Jolie in her drapey one-strappers and gladiator sandals in Alexander, or for those less fashion-obsessed, Animal House. Designer Yasuko Furata has different thoughts in mind. Her Japanese label, TOGA, has quietly been dancing the line between avant-garde and wearable riche since 1997. Her latest collection for Fall/Winter [...]

After the past couple of seasons of girlish fun (think bright pink patent satchels and up-to-there pouf skirts), Miuccia Prada has brought Miu Miu around to a more sophisticated turn. Channeling the sexpot energy of film heroines, double-breasted wool coats had low curvy necklines and louche tops opened to reveal nude brassieres. The underwear as [...]

For designer Wolfgang Joop, it was time to go back to the fundamentals–well at least in the school of Russian Suprematism, an art movement founded by Kasimir Malevich that was based on fundamental geometric forms. Blouses took on squares and jackets featured beautifully constructed shoulders. Joop also used several graphical prints, namely flowy dresses in [...]

Backstage at the Elie Saab show was a calm oasis compared to frenzy of the seats outside. The designer was cordoned off in a private section with two bodyguards and a personal champagne server. Jessica Stam was calmly reading Kurt Vonnegut on the hair stylist’s chair, and Chanel Iman took pics of friends and hammed [...]
